Abstract: I will first review the features of the displacement memory effect in asymptotically flat spacetimes. I will contrast the asymptotic structure of future infinity in de Sitter spacetime to the one of null infinity in asymptotically flat spacetimes and explain how a generalization of the BMS group of asymptotic symmetries, the Lambda-BMS group, arises in de Sitter. I will then explain how to solve for the linear graviton field in de Sitter for a localized quadrupolar source and derive the de Sitter memory effect and its relationship to the Lambda-BMS group. I will prove that the analysis invalidates the dS4/CFT3 conjecture.
